Getting Ready to Use MS Office
Setting up or installing MS Office is pretty easy. However, the process of installation may vary depending upon the type of suite you are using. Setup steps vary for home and business suit. Here, we will only talk about setting up the MS Office home plan.
You will first need to redeem your product key if you are installing it for the first time. You can go to office.com/setup and redeem the product key. Once redeemed, here are the steps you can follow:
- Go the official www.office.com/myaccount
- Here you will need to sign in with your Microsoft account. If you don’t have a Microsoft account you will need to create one
- You can now start the installation process by clicking on the ‘install’ button. The setup will start installing the 32-bit version by default. However, if you wish to install the 64-bit version then you will need to change the language at the time of the setup. Many customers choose to install 2013 version of the suite.
What is the product key and why do I need it?
In simple terms, product key is something that verifies you as the authentic user of the product. The product key helps in preventing the software piracy. If you are installing for the first time, the product key needs to be redeemed at the time of the setup. However, if you are reinstalling the suite you can use your existing key. Product key is a set of 25 alphanumeric characters.
